We had a late start to our season this year but lots of babies have been hatching since June. We are thrilled with the way these little guys are coming out and think you will be too. We like to make sure they get a healthy start so they won't be available for a while, but look for available postings starting in mid September. We will be attending the November Atlanta Repticon and will bring some of this years babies with us then as well.
This is a juvenile female Goniurosaurus Hainanensis who will be breeding at RSG in 2014.
At Red Sky Geckos we specialize in nocturnal easy care geckos for pet owners and breeders. Our focus is on species from an island called New Caledonia in the Coral Sea. While the island offers a range of climates as well as sub islands with micro climates, in general animals from this area enjoy a temperate forest environment. Species we are keeping and breeding at RSG from this area include: Correlophus Ciliatus, Mnairogekko Chahoua, Rhacodactylus Auriculatus, Rhacodactylus Leachianus. More commonly knows as: Crested or Eyelash Geckos, Mossy or Prehensile Tailed Geckos or Chewies, Gargoyle Geckos, Leachies. Now we are happy to announce that we are expanding into Goniurosaurus Hainanensis or Chinese Cave Gecko. The Goniurosaurus have different species from Vietnam to China and on islands such as Cat Ba, Hainan and Okinawa. We are focusing on the Hainanensis (hailing from Hainan) because we like the contrast between the dark base and yellow and white stripes. These geckos are sweet, shy and insectivorous with delicate legs and feet. They can be handled but not as much as the New Caledonian geckos, so they are not suitable for young children or those looking for a pet they can carry anywhere. Great for teens who have learned to be gentle with pets and adults who would like to expand their reptile collection. They are semi-terrestrial and will climb when given rocks and cork, but they spend most of the day-time hidden under rocks or piles of sticks. Beautiful little nocturnal hunters who only get 6-9" in length. This link will take you to Red Sky Geckos on Facebook. Geckos can be held until pick-up at the Atlanta Repticon April 13th and 14th to avoid shipping charges*.
*Shipping is $45 within the continental U.S. We proudly use Reptiles Express for safe and secure shipping. For guaranteed live arrival we ship Mon-Wed when the low temperatures at both the sending and receiving destinations are above 40 degrees F. Someone must be at the receiving destination to accept delivery or we can arrange for packages to be held at your local hub for pickup. The link on this picture will lead you to the most current pictures of our available geckos on Facebook. Most of these geckos will be available at Repticon but some are still too young to bring and will only be there by special request. Please let us know if you are interested in seeing a particular gecko and we will make sure it is there!
We are going to be at the Atlanta Repticon this weekend, Jan 12 and 13th. Come by and pick up your gecko food (Repashy CGD) or get an early Valentines Day present for that someone special. Nothing says love like great gex!
Crested Geckos and Chahoua's require temperatures that are comfortable to you and I. In other words, 60-80 degrees F are the min and max temps that are comfortable for them. While we can use heat packs and cold packs to ship at the extremes of the temperature ranges, overnight lows must be no lower than 40 degrees at both locations to be able to ship. Some exceptions might be made but it would be at the discretion of RSG and with the understanding that the live arrival warranty would be nullified. Another point to keep in mind is that someone must be home to receive the gecko no matter what the weather-but particularly if temperatures are in the high or low range. Sitting on a porch the package can rapidly heat or cool if exposed to sun, rain, snow, cold ground temps or freezing air temperatures. Remember that shipping is stressful for your new friend even under ideal conditions. Excessive stress can open a gecko up to illness or even death. Limiting negative shipping conditions helps ensure that your gecko will have a shorter adjustment period in your home and be a happy and healthy part of your pet family. Shipping weather is opening back up!! Get your geckos before things cool down again. Fall special: $45 dollar flat rate shipping within the continental US and/or 20% off of purchase of 2 or more geckos. Don't like shipping costs? Meet us at the Atlanta Repticon in October and mention this post for 20% off of your gecko purchase.
